I am a wildlife biologist with a special interest on environmental impact assessment and vertebrate conservation and management.

Over the last 10 years, I participated in several Environmental Impact Assessments and Monitoring Programmes of renewable energy projects and other human-made infrastructures. In 2008 I completed my master’s degree in Ecology and Environmental Management (Faculty of Sciences — University of Lisbon), with a thesis on methodologies to assess bird and bat fatality at onshore wind farms. Since then I have focused my research on this same topic and joined the coordination team of the 4-year research project “Wind & Biodiversity — Developing Integrated solutions for managing biodiversity in Wind Farms: bird and bat mitigation and compensation” (CENTRO-07 – 0202-FEDER-011541), co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. Since 2014 I’m also a member of EUROBATS Intersessional Working Group on “Wind Turbines and Bat Populations”.

Currently I’m a researcher at the group coordinated by Prof. António Mira (CIBIO — University of Évora) within the framework of the project “Ecological evaluation of the high velocity railway corridor between Évora and Caia”.
