Denis Medinas

My researches interests include the ecosystems’ conservation and applied ecology, focusing on impacts of infrastructures on wildlife populations and habitat fragmentation. I started working with bats and road ecology during my MSc in 2009 (Assessing road effects on bats: the role of landscape, road features and bat activity on road-kills) at University of Évora.

Currently, I enrolled the BIODIV PHD programme in CIBIO-InBIO and I am a PhD student from the University of Porto, funded by the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology (SFRH/BD/104861/2014).Main goals of my PhD project are: to assess the role of roads on bats behaviour and to assess its effects on long-term population viability of a selected model species (the lesser horseshoe bat, Rhinolophus hipposideros).
